Research, evaluation and statistical analysis in Criminal Justice is a key business area for ECOTEC having worked with the Youth Justice Board, the Ministry of Justice, the Home Office, the Department for Communities and Local Government and regional and local clients on a range of projects to investigate offending behaviour, what works in the delivery of criminal justice services and the effectiveness of local interventions at a community level.

Service Portfolio: Evaluation of the North Liverpool Community Justice Centre

The North Liverpool Community Justice Centre was a high profile pilot initiative aiming to put the community at the centre of justice - and justice back into the heart of the community - by involving it in activities and services provided by the centre.

Our evaluation examined the overall impact of the centre and the impact on specific target groups of victims and witnesses, offenders and centre users/community representatives. The methodology included in-depth qualitative interviews with victims and witnesses, offenders and centre staff, a large scale telephone survey of offenders and the use of peer researchers to explore the views of centre users and community representatives.

Our evaluation informed the mainstreaming of the community justice approach within other courts in England and Wales.
